Sculpture of Dionysos The exhibition "Dionysos and His Retinue in the Art of Ertez - Israel" focuses on Dionysiac culture in the ancient world. Specifically, the exhibit concentrates on this culture's roots in the Ancient Near East, as well as its portrayal in Eretz-Israel. The exhibit also features several Dionysiac motifs, including the Dionysiac retinue, comprised of members such as Silenos, satyrs, and maenads, and the vine.
The vine is especially interesting as we can view its manifestation in both Jewish and Christian art of the Roman and Byzantine periods.
The objects displayed at the exhibit include statues, altars, mosaics, oil lamps, gemstones and coins, decorated vessels, and other artifacts related to the Dionysiac cult.
