Landscape, ca.1880-1885, oil on canvasVan Rysselberghe was a Belgian painter and founder of Les Vingt, a body of twenty artists formed in Belgium in 1883 to encourage interest in innovative art. In the mid 1880s, he met Seurat and adopted divisionism, and in 1898 he moved to Paris, where he became associated with Symbolist circles.
