Seine, oil on canvas Lebourg, a French landscape master, studied in Rouen and at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He painted in Auvergne, Normandy, and in the Seine Valley, where he attempted to render the "infinite charm" of the light of Ile de France. From 1872 to 1877 he taught and painted in Algiers. In 1878, after his return to Paris, he exhibited with the Impressionists, and from 1890 on, he exhibited at the Salon de la Nationale. Lebourg's work was very well-received in his lifetime, but unfortunately he became paralyzed and in 1921 stopped painting.
